Day 157 (Happy Birthday Malika)

Today's photo inspiration is #cement
I know this is just that..cement..a tombstone and nothing more. I always knew she wasn't there but it doesn't lessen my grief sometimes.

Today would be her 39th birthday and she remains where she has always been...in my heart.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there,
I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there.
I do not die.

Gone but not forgotten

I just wanted to thank all my friends for all the prayers and well wishes I received regarding my brother. For those of you that did not know he was injured when his Humvee hit a roadside bomb last week. Cut, bruised and left with a concussion we are beyond blessed to have him with us.

Three of his "brothers" were killed in the incident. Sgt. 1st Class Jamie S. Nicholas, and Sgt. 1st Class Gary J. Vasquez(both pictured right next to Amon at the far left) and Captain Ritchie Cliff.

For their families I send my deepest condolences. These are the times that makes me the most vulnerable and disenchanted with the polices of our military and government as a whole. How many more people have to die? As my friend Jay told me the only thing we can do is VOTE. So please be sure to make your voice heard and vote for the one person that will get our troops home. I really dont want to write any more posts about this.

Gone to the great casting call in the sky

WTF??!!?? Was there a shortage of available talent in heaven or something? My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the families of Bernie Mac and Issac Hayes. Both were great talents in their own right.

How sad and ironic is it that they were in the process of filming a movie together with Samuel Jackson.
Let's hope we don't lose him too. :(

Freaks come out at Knight

So I went to see The Dark Knight last night. I don't normally get involved in blockbuster first night madness. Well except for Sex and the City. But I was coerced into going. I haven't experienced anything like the juggernaut that is this movie. The lines were around the corner. People were pushing for available seats and acting straight foolish. Despite the insanity I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Award winning? Nah. But entertaining nonetheless. I think Heath would be proud.

This amazing journalist dies and that pedophile R. Kelly gets off.

What a sad sad day. :(
