Back to Life..Back to Reality

I feel like a spry school girl on the night before the first day of school.

Excited...anxious...indecisive about what to wear. Except tomorrow is not the first day of school but my return to work after 5 months and I’m not feeling so spry right now as I’m still quite sore from the last two surgeries.

But no matter, Wells Fargo Mortgage waits for no wo(man) and being on disability for so long has taken quite the toll on me financially; and while the generous donations over the past several months have helped tremendously it hardly keeps me in the luxurious life I’ve grown accustomed to (that’s a joke for all my fellow non-profit worker bees). This year brings new medical bills and concerns so I think it’s time to get back work even if it’s part time despite the residual physical issues. Time heals all wounds right?

Besides, I’m tired of being home. I miss the interaction with my work family. Some more than others of course but generally speaking I am looking forward to reconnecting with them and picking up the good work I had to put down in August. And the stress that comes along with that good work? I don’t know I’m trying not to worry about it too much because it will just stress me out even more and that’s not good for anyone.

So right now I’ll concentrate on the baby steps...gradually getting back to work and gradually getting back to life.

Day 218

Today's photo inspiration is #morning_routine
Today was my last official day in the office for awhile. My morning routine was to walk through these doors and try my best at being a part of helping to improve the lives of others. As challenging as times were I realize I was exactly where I was suppose to be. I'll miss it.

Day 141

Today'sToday's photo inspiration is #curious
It always makes me laugh to look up from my workspace and see My curious friend Chad checking up on me. If he wasn't so cute it would be creepy. :) .

Day 131

Today's photo inspiration is #9_to_5.
A lovely workmate gifted me my very own red swing-line stapler. Folks like her make my 9 to 5 bearable and dare I say a happy place to work.  Milton Waddams would be proud. :)

Day 98

Today's photo inspiration is #surrounding.
This is my usual surrounding on my commute. Concrete..steel...loathing of my fellow human beings. (Just kidding...sort of)

Day 14

 Today's photo inspiration is #temptation.

I Get By with a Lil' Help from My Friends

So yeah..this is my life right now.

I'm working 10-12 hours a day and its starting to take its toll.  So to get by, I have made 5 hour energy drinks (pomegranate flavor) my best friend but today I thought I'd turn it up a notch and find me an even better friend. :)

Everyday on my way to work I pass a cute little knick knack shop called Coffee and Tea Works near Dupont Circle. Well today I noticed a going out of business sign with everything 50% off.  I'm a sucker for knick knacks and oddities and especially those that are on sale. As soon as I walked in I saw this adorable flask and thought it was only fitting to get it since every proper girl should have one...even if you just fill it with Kool-aid (the red kind).  I happily brought it back to my office and its been **winking** at me ever since.

So who cares that my job is driving me to drink...at least I can now do it with style like the classy dame that I am.

Cheers!

You think your job is bad?

Just when I was busy hating the humdrum existence that is my job, this man reminded me that things could be a lot worse. I'm sure this unsuspecting fellow didn't appreciate me snapping shots of him washing my office windows but that's what the "easily amused" do.

I found out that window cleaners on average make about $18,790 a year. In my mind that amount of money is not worth potentially losing your life for. I guess I'm pretty lucky that my biggest work injury risk is a severe paper cut.

Count your blessings.
